Cat Got Your Tongue: Communicating With Clients About the Cost of Veterinary Care
Jason Coe, DVM, PhD
Starts: 03/26/11 at 9:35am

Research has shown that veterinarians can experience unease when discussing the cost of veterinary care. Furthermore, it has been shown that veterinarians and their clients perceive "value" differently, with veterinarians in most situations not framing their discussions of veterinary costs in a manner that attends to pet owners' perception of value. Through an interactive discussion a number of barriers to discussing the costs of veterinary care will be raised and discussed. In addition, the current presentation will address a number of specific communication skills that can be used to facilitate cost discussions and relay value to clients.
